After worship
In Fellowship Hall

First United Methodist Church
of Pittsburgh
is on a journey of becoming
an Anti-Racist Congregation.
Christian churches are called to reckon with histories of colonization and White supremacy that have broken lives, bodies, relationships, and the Earth.
SACRED RECKONINGS
is a holistic process teaching that reparation is more than just dollars. It includes truth-telling, spiritual practice, relationship, political solidarity, alongside wealth return. It is both heavy and joyful to begin to heal and repair these harms and we are called to do it in community. This strategy offers a path for liberation of ALL people
and can lead us to concrete action.
On January 18, 2026, after worship, you can learn about the basics of this 10 step process. As a result, you can begin to discern if you want to jump on board or not. Being on board will require the giving of both time and talent.
A few weeks later, there will be a second Lunch and Learn during which folks will be invited to look deeper. After the second Lunch and Learn you can decide what role you are willing to play as we live into this strategy.
If you’d like more information, please contact RoBear Wilson or Stefan Frembgen.
