Ministry Fair & Concert following worship

A First Church Festival!

Imagine a day in which you find yourself among good friends, full of laughter, energized by shared history, full of excellent food, and moved by beautiful music. We are planning all of those things and more for a special day of celebration on Sunday, September 20th. It is our first annual FUMC FALL FESTIVAL!

The day will begin as First Church normally does; with All-ages Sunday School at 9:30am. You are enthusiastically invited to bring friends or invite friends of your kids that day.

Worship follows in the sanctuary where we will be welcoming back into our midst Rev. Renee Waun for a special dedication. Renee spent many years at First Church as the Associate Pastor and many of the ways in which we practice social justice was born of her dedication and ministry here!

When worship is done and the postlude is playing you are welcome to move into the Fellowship Hall for a ministry fair that highlights not only the many ministries within our church family, but various outside groups that use our building and would love to share their mission with us. During that time, food will be available. The food will be created in part by our cook Charlie, but also hand-held and finger-foods offered at the ministry fair tables by our groups. During this time, there will be some special games to help all generations alike connect with the moment and perhaps make everyone feel a bit more connected!

We end our festivities with a special brief concert in the sanctuary. Peter de Mets, an ASCAP composer has collaborated with poet and choral director Mark Boyle and written a commissioned piece of music specifically for our choir and our church family titled “Who Are We?” We hope you will not want to miss hearing that for the first time ever! The First Church Chancel Choir will also provide some of the favorite anthems over the years for the abbreviated concert.
