CREATIVE SPACE

Image, story, rhythm--these are the language of the heart. They reveal to us the deepest truth about ourselves and about God. So every Monday evening at 6:30, we gather to reconnect with our Divine Creative Source. Whether it's writing, painting, drawing, music, or fiber arts, come find your creative spirit in community!
CONTEMPLATIVE ART
First Monday of every month, 6:30 - 8:00pm
Art and making can be a practice of self-knowledge, prayer, contemplation, and even resistance. So come, connect to your divine creativity. Everyone is welcome: Young and old, seasoned artists and people who have never picked up a paintbrush. Those who think of themselves as “not creative” are especially challenged to come and get to know themselves as image-bearers of The Creating One. Each month instructions will be given for a particular project, but you are also free to use the space and the supplies to pursue your own creativity in community.

DRUMMING NIGHT
Second Monday of every month, 6:30 - 8:00pm
Come learn to drum together!
We'll be drumming in the chapel. Bring a drum or shaker if you have one, but we've got plenty if you need! Let's have some fun!
CONTEMPLATIVE WRITING
Third Monday of every month, 6:30 - 8:00pm
The tradition of writing as a spiritual practice is as old as the scriptures themselves. Writing can increase self-awareness and vulnerability and helps us be in touch with divine inspiration. So, join us for this practice in writing as spirituality! Each month, participants will have an opportunity to share their writing with the group. Then, a practice in contemplative writing will be offered. But you are also free to use the time, space, and co-creative energy to pursue your own writing projects. Writers of any genre—poetry, stories, journaling, essays, creative nonfiction—can use their writing as a contemplative practice. But the ones who may benefit most from these spiritual practices are people who do not think of themselves as writers!

SIT & STITCH
Fourth Monday of every month, 6:30 - 8:00pm
Bring your knitting, crochet, needlepoint, sewing, or whatever you are working on and join us for some social craft time. Becky and Gwendolen can teach skills too if you’re interested in learning something new in the textile arts—no need to already have a project in progress. All ages are welcome—kids who can manage a pencil are old enough to learn some of these textile arts.
Please RSVP to Gwendolen at the church office if you’d like to join us.
Many of us have suffered "the creative wound". We learned from a young age that we are not creative. But this is a lie. The scriptures tell us that we all reflect the image of The Great Creativity that bursts forth into all beauty. So if you think you're not creative, the Creative Space is especially for you--to remember who you are.
