I Timothy 6:18: …….do good, be rich in good works, generous and ready to share.
Stewardship is an important part of our spiritual life at First United Methodist Church of Pittsburgh. Stewardship and generosity can be thought of as a thankful response to the generosity of God as well as a means to show generosity as we live out being a stewarding community of faith.
By using our time, talent, and treasure we make it possible to give through Christian Education, Worship and Music, World Mission, Community Outreach and Pastoral Care. Our gifts of presence, service of time and talent and financial support enable us to demonstrate our appreciation for God’s gifts and love.
Our Gifts of Treasure
John Wesley, founder of the Methodist Church, is quoted as saying, “Earn all you can and save all you can and give all you can.” His words guide our decisions about financial gifts to the Church. We offer many opportunities to give and demonstrate generosity by contributions to:
- Annual Giving
- Weekly Offerings
Designated Gifts
- Debt Repayment
- Family Promise
- First Food and Friends
- Building improvement projects:
- Front Door Fund
- Stained Glass Windows
- Music Ministry
- Youth Ministry/Youth Mission
GIVE NOW to these and other designated areas of need.
Our Gifts of Time and Talent
Many opportunities are available to you at the church for sharing time and talent. For example:
Teaching Sunday School | Choir Membership |
Volunteering for Community Outreach | Annual Flower Planting |
Building Improvement Projects | Serving on Leadership Council |
Worship Leader | Serving on Standing Committees |
Greeter at Services | Serving on Short Term Task Teams |
