Friday afternoon, Governor Wolf ordered a two-week closure of all Pennsylvania schools beginning March 16th. As of 4:30 Friday afternoon, PA has 41 confirmed cases of Coronavirus, with one confirmed case happening in our neighboring county, Washington; and the President declared a National State of Emergency. These actions have led to the difficult decision to cancel Sunday School, all pre-worship activities and all after worship events this upcoming Sunday, March 15th.
Worship is not cancelled for March 15th. Worship begins at 11:00am. Please use common sense, reason and logic in making your decision to attend worship or not. Consider your health, and the health of those who surround you when making this decision. Know that soon we will be able to worship together, but for a season we must put our own desire to gather together for the greater good of community. Factoring into our decision was the health status of many in our community, but also a commitment to acting with care for the most vulnerable in our community. In a time like this, being extra cautious may actually help mitigate the crisis in our area and beyond.
The worship planning team will be meeting this week to discuss ways to have on-line worship, and conversations will continue that will empower us to remain connected to one another during a period of isolation. We are listening to public health officials for guidelines for “social distancing”. As information is given, we will do our best to update you.
God is aware of our inner fears and concerns, and as we reach out to our Creator we will receive a response within our hearts.
“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts,
to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.”
The Peace of Christ,
Pastor Tracy and the FUMC Staff
