Fellowship Hour in the Courtyard on Pentecost Sunday!
All are invited to join in a fellowship/coffee hour after worship on Pentecost Sunday, June 5th! We hope to gather outside in the courtyard — or Fellowship Hall if the weather is cold or rainy. Simple, safe refreshments will be provided. We hope to see you there!
Those graduating from high school, college, vocational school, and graduate school, we are so proud of you! We will celebrate all graduates in worship on Sunday, June 12. If you would like to be recognized that day, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. Send a picture. Tell us your name (as you would like for it to appear in the bulletin), the school you’re graduating from, degree (if applicable), and what you plan to do next.
FUMC Sunday Cast for Congregation and the World
Most of you by now have seen or heard of our weekly worship experiences we are posting on YouTube. We hope they have been meaningful to all of you. We invite you to share the experience with friends and family far and wide. If you search for “fumcpitt” on YouTube it will take you to our church page where you can find all past videos and also the live SundayCast. An email will still be sent out to the FUMC email list each week by early Sunday morning with a link for each “live” experience. We are grateful to be able to connect in this way.

A Prayerful Quote
Note from Gwendolen: As we wait for word from the Supreme Court on the fate of women, girls, and pregnant people, we will draw here from Wilda Gafney’s Womanist Midrash for the next several weeks. This is a deeply challenging read that is worth meditating upon. The following is from page 4:
“Like classical and contemporary Jewish midrash, the sacred imagination tells the story behind the story, the story between the lines on the page. For example, the sanctified imagination reveals that Rachel was athletic and long-legged. The sanctified imagination declares that Samson’s locks of hair were dreadlocks. The sanctified imagination explains that Bathsheba always walked with her head held high, never refused to make eye contact with anyone, but David could not meet her eyes and hung his head in her presence until the day he died.”
