Middle School
The Middle School youth at First United Methodist Church of Pittsburgh are an energetic group of students who seek to learn, serve, and connect with their peers. They have the opportunity to explore their faith during discussion and learning in Sunday School each week. The group leads J.U.S.T Worship three Sundays each month. These students are extremely eager to serve others, and participate in various service projects throughout the year.
There are always opportunities for the Middle School youth to spend time with their friends, both on Sunday mornings and outside of church as well. We go ice skating, play laser tag, and attend overnight lock-ins as a group. No matter what the middle school youth are doing, they are sure to be having a good time!
High School
The High School youth in the church are a group of teenagers who are passionate about serving, learning, and socializing as well. They also help lead J.U.S.T Worship, focusing on keeping the Middle School and Elementary-aged students engaged throughout the service. They organize service projects to help others and also travel to do mission work. Spending time with friends is important to this group, so we go on social outings such as bowling and ice skating throughout the year.
Hope Totes
Hope Totes
Hope Totes is a ministry of First Church that was developed by three of our high school youth in 2014. Hope Totes are kits that provide items like food and socks to people in need around Pittsburgh. Each winter the youth assemble the Totes and encourage worship participants to take the totes and keep them in their car or bag. The Hope Totes are then handed out to people we encounter during the week who may be in need. It is our hope that the Totes are a tool for deepening our connection with all people who we encounter throughout our daily lives.
