Each of our adult classes offers a different style of faith formation and fellowship, allowing everyone to find their place in our adult education programming from 9:30am to 11am on Sunday morning.
Some days you just need to talk and be heard, and share in fellowship with one another. The Conversation Corner in the gathering space is open from 9:30 am–11:00 am. Stop in any time and join in the discussion.
- Seekers Class
IN THE SEEKERS CLASS SERIES Religion and Science: Friends, Enemies or Frenemies?”
Sept. 23: What are the different conceptual models for viewing the interface between science and religion (various harmony modes and conflict modes)? How have arguments for God’s existence changed over the years? How does your worldview address both religion and science?
Sept. 30: What are the methods for determining what is “true” in science? Are there different ways for judging religious claims? How do you evaluate truth claims? How can we hold a view of life that integrates science and religion? We will look at how some famous scientists and theologians attempt/ed the integrated approach and discuss how we in the class have attempted to integrate the two.
Oct. 7: CMU Professor John Hooker will provide background and lead a discussion exploring the relationship of science and religion in non-Christian traditions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Confucian and Daoist philosophies).
