Adult Education

Each of our adult classes offers a different style of faith formation and fellowship, allowing everyone to find their place in our adult education programming from 9:30am to 11am on Sunday morning.

  • Conversation Corner

Some days you just need to talk and be heard, and share in fellowship with one another. The Conversation Corner in the gathering space is open from 9:30 am–11:00 am. Stop in any time and join in the discussion.

  • Seekers Class

IN THE SEEKERS CLASS SERIES Religion and Science: Friends, Enemies or Frenemies?”

Sept. 23:  What are the different conceptual models for viewing the interface between science and religion (various harmony modes and conflict modes)? How have arguments for God’s existence changed over the years? How does your worldview address both religion and science?

Sept. 30:  What are the methods for determining what is “true” in science? Are there different ways for judging religious claims? How do you evaluate truth claims? How can we hold a view of life that integrates science and religion? We will look at how some famous scientists and theologians attempt/ed the integrated approach and discuss how we in the class have attempted to integrate the two.

Oct. 7:  CMU Professor John Hooker will provide background and lead a discussion exploring the relationship of science and religion in non-Christian traditions (Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Jainism, Judaism, Confucian and Daoist philosophies).

  • SPIRIT OF JUSTICE: 9:45 am in the Preschool Room
If you are asking yourself, “What will the Spirit of Justice” class be talking about this fall, then please read on!
Our plan is to begin Sunday, Sept. 9 by discussing the pdf that is attached. I apologize if it is hard to follow – you’ll want to follow page numbers to make sure you’re reading in order. This pdf contains the forward and introduction to Patrisse Khan-Cullor’s bestseller “When they call you a terrorist,” and a letter James Baldwin wrote to his nephew called, “My Dungeon Shook: Letter to My Nephew on the One Hundredth Anniversary of the Emancipation.”
We’ll have copies of the books available, in addition to cinnamon rolls and coffee! (Led by Lisa Morse and Sam Procter)

  • Parents of Young Children Gathering

Join parents of young children at 9:45am in the Preschool room to relax, exhale, and enjoy the company of other parents who want to raise their little ones with the love of God. This is a space for parents who are looking to connect with adults with their children, or for parents without their children.
